• DoorKing 1812 and 1838 keypads: codes erased after a power flicker. The 1812 is a common apartment and small-gate keypad, and its memory doesn’t always survive a brownout gracefully. Fort Worth sees its share of storm-driven power interruptions. We check the relay and ground path first, reenter the master code, and verify the programming against the homeowner’s records. We test with a known-good transmitter, bypass-test the antenna connection, and replace the pigtail and connector rather than charging you for a new receiver board that you don’t need.
• DKS guard stations and entry panels: dead keypad buttons in sets of four. This one is a DoorKing signature. The keypads use a matrix wiring scheme, so when four keys die in a row or column, that’s one bad trace or one broken wire in the ribbon, not four dead buttons. A less experienced tech might quote a full keypad. We test continuity on the matrix, find the dead row, and often repair the ribbon or reflow the joint. It’s the difference between a $95 repair and a $500 replacement.
• Micropark and other DoorKing proximity readers: intermittent reads in full sun.
